What is the SEBI FE exam?
The SEBI Investor Certification Examination is a free investor-awareness certification introduced by SEBI in association with NISM, aimed at fostering financial literacy among the investing public. It is not a mandatory professional license — anyone can register at no cost. The exam is based on the SEBI Financial Education Booklet, covering the basics of savings and investment.
What this practice test covers
- Basic concepts of finance: saving, investment, budgeting, and inflation
- Structure of securities markets, including primary and secondary markets
- Role of stock exchanges, depositories, and regulatory bodies
- Investment risks: credit risk, market risk, and liquidity risk
- Risk management concepts: hedging and diversification
- Asset allocation, due diligence, and market terminology
- Investor rights, responsibilities, disclosure, and dispute resolution
Passing the SEBI FE exam
The official SEBI Investor Certification Examination consists of 50 multiple-choice questions (1 mark each, 50 marks total) to be completed in 60 minutes, with a passing score of 50% (25/50). There is no negative marking. The exam is free of cost. SEBI/NISM can revise these rules, so always verify the current exam pattern and passing marks on the official NISM SICE portal before registering.
Why practice with mock tests
The official exam itself is free and low-stakes, but a bit of timed practice still helps you get comfortable with the question style and pacing before your real attempt. These mocks are extra practice beyond the free SEBI booklet — not a requirement, and not a paid substitute for the free official exam.
